Embassy Suites Tennis Program

The new tennis program at Embassy Suites offers racket stringing, tennis lessons, clinics, and hitting partners of all levels to both hotel guests and locals. Private and semi-private lessons with Ryan Haviland run $55 per hour and $30 per half hour. Group clinics run $22-$25 per two hour session and are mostly catered to junior players ranging from 6 to 18 years old. Anyone who is looking for a hitting/match-play partner can be paired with a player at a similar level, or higher level, for $20 per 1.5 hour session. Ryan Haviland’s Tennis Background

Ryan has coached in the upstate since 2005 and has worked with kids and adults of all ages and levels.  He has 25 years experience either playing or coaching the game of tennis.  He was ranked #1 in SC in singles and doubles, #1 in the South in singles and doubles, number 8 in the nation in singles and #6 in the nation in doubles in the boys 18 and under division in 1998 at age 17. (year end rankings)  He also was a two-time member of Team USA and traveled to various parts of the world representing the U.S.  Ryan accepted a full-ride tennis scholarship to Stanford University, who had just won 5 consecutive NCAA titles, and while there played as high as #1 singles and doubles, became a first team All-American, was an NCAA singles semi-finalist, won a team national championship, and helped the team achieve a #1 national ranking at some point during all four years he was on the team.  After turning pro he achieved an ATP singles ranking of #516 and a doubles ranking of #307 in his first 3 months on tour.  He’s played over a dozen current or former top 100 ATP singles players in the world and has beaten several of them.
